About Me

David is a surgeon, healthcare quality improvement expert, & bestselling author.

David writes about & uses advanced quality tools to help teams see their data and attain excellence.

His current focus includes using physiologic data collected from surgeons to improve performance, similar to how professional athletes are trained and supported.  In addition to individual factors, David uses statistical process control methods to improve the systems in which surgeons work.  Otherwise, he says, "A bad system beats a good surgeon every time."

He is one of the original members of The Surgical Lab's data-driven quality improvement team.

He writes about data-driven healthcare quality improvement for TheHill.com, Insights.TheSurgicalLab.com, and TheHealthcareQualityBlog.com. He is the author of the Amazon bestseller Volume To Value, & shares how best to measure value in Healthcare.
